Opening of Thap Ba Ponagar Festival

The opening ceremony of the Ponagar Tower celebration in 2022 took place on April 21 at the relic site of Ponagar Tower in Nha Trang. Mr. Dinh Van Thieu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ho Van Mung, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Nha Trang City Party Committee; Nguyen Khac Ha, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee; and a large number of people and visitors from all over the world were among those in attendance.

After the opening speech of the festival organizer, Mr. Dinh Van Thieu drummed the opening of the Ponagar Tower and offered a tribute to the work of Lady Po Nagar. This year's Festival of Ponagar Tower is held from April 20 to 23 (on March 20 to 23 of the lunar calendar), with ceremonial activities such as: Dressing Ceremony for Lady Po Nagar; Ceremony to pray for national peace; almsgiving ceremony; worshiping at Rat hour; traditional sacrifices; along with the activities of offering incense to Lady Po Nagar, and dancing Lady Po Nagar of the pilgrimage groups.

According to estimates of the organizers, this year's festival had nearly 100 religious congregations inside and outside the province with about 2,500 people attending. In addition, over 1,500 tourists and 20,000 locals attend and worship at Ponagar Tower every day. Following a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, this year's Thap Ba Ponagar Festival has addressed religious demands of Khanh Hoa residents as well as the provinces and cities of the South Central - Central Highlands. The organization is also calculated and implemented in a reasonable streamlining direction while maintaining the solemnity.
