Recovering tourism step by step
The Department of Tourism has just issued a Plan for solution implementation to gradually restore tourism activities after the Covid-19 pandemic. Accordingly, the tourism industry will focus on the domestic tourist market, enhance communication and promotion, and seek for solutions towards recovering part of the international tourist market in 2021 in the coming time.
Re-stimulating tourism demands
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism said that, thanks to the Government's drastic measures, the Covid-19 pandemic has basically been controlled, which creates peace of mind and trust for people. KhanhHoa is not the pandemic hot spot, so it is possible to restart tourism stimulus for a second time. Recently, KhanhHoa has been chosen as a transit quarantine location for foreign experts and above all, with the success of the local tourism stimulus program "KhanhHoa people travel in KhanhHoa", so the system of tourism service rendering has basically been maintained so far. These favorable conditions serve as a crucial basis for the implementation of the plan to gradually restore tourism activities in the fourth quarter of 2020 and develop orientation for the year 2021.

Domestic tourists are still the top priority of KhanhHoa tourism in the last months of the year.
Accordingly, the Department of Tourism determined that domestic tourist market is still the biggest priority in the fourth quarter of 2020 and 2021. In addition, KhanhHoa tourism pays attention to the international tourist market constituted by foreign workers, experts and diplomats in Vietnam, especially at Christmas and New Year. Along with the above two groups of tourists, the Department of Tourism also pins hopes on the forecasted international tourist market will recover soon in 2021.
In the fourth quarter of 2020, the Department of Tourism aims to welcome 350,000 visitors, including 10,000 international visitors. Along with welcoming visitors, the Tourism industry hopes to restore 100% of the system of basic tourism services (accommodation, restaurants, travel, entertainment and urban utility services) to give momentum for the tourism recovery in 2021.
Various solutions to attract visitors
In order to attract domestic tourists and groups of foreign tourists that are present in Vietnam, in the coming time the tourism industry will boost coordination in promoting and attracting tourists through the Business Connection program that has been implemented effectively in recent years. In particular, priority is given to maintaining activities to stimulate local tourism with the theme of "KhanhHoa people travel in KhanhHoa". At the same time, the tourism industry has also built a number of tourism stimulus packages with high competitive advantages such as MICE tourism (tourism combining events, conferences and seminars), vacation tourism for families and friends, sports tourism with golf services... to attract tourists from key areas such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the South West and the Central Highlands provinces bordering KhanhHoa. The Department of Tourism will update full information of such stimulus programs on Nhatrangnow.com website to facilitate visitors to access and choose preferential programs of KhanhHoa tourism enterprises. The tourism industry will also participate in Vietnam International Travel Mart – VITM Hanoi 2020 (scheduled in mid-November) and join hands in organizing KhanhHoa tourism promotion program on Hanoi pedestrian street with the theme of "The call of NhaTrang beach".
According to estimates of the Department of Tourism, in August 2020, the whole province welcomed only 28,000 visitors, a considerable reduction compared tothe figure in July (214,439 visitors). During 8 months, KhanhHoa only welcomed about 986,000 tourists, equal to 19.8% of the figure over the same period in 2019, with nearly 426,000 international visitors and 560,000 domestic tourists. The total tourism revenue in 8 months was estimated at VND 6,028 billion, equal to 24.4% of the figure over the same period in 2019. |
According to leaders of the Department of Tourism, to prepare for the recovery of the international tourist market, the Department will coordinate with Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company, airlines ...to deploy communication, promotion, advertise and build stimulus programs to attract international visitors to restore the international route to Cam Ranh in 2021. In addition, the Department will coordinate with ViettelKhanhHoa and MeCorp to intensively implement the project of "Stimulating the growth of international tourists on the basis of digital economy and application of IT achievements" in the the last months of 2020. At the same time, the Department of Tourism will develop and implement a cooperation program with Travelshop Vietnam - Travelshop Turkey in attracting international visitors to KhanhHoa via the proposal for the program of "Business Connection". In particular, in the fourth quarter of 2020, the pilot organization of "Online Travel Mart" will be held under the form of online exchange between international travel companies and KhanhHoa's tourism service providers.
The tourism industry will also organize professional training courses and classes of business management skills to support the orientation of building business strategies to adapt to changes in tourism trends after the Covid-19 pandemic, hold seminars to exchange solutions to restore international tourism activities after the Covid-19 pandemic ... “Hopefully with the Covid-19 pandemic being under controlled and effective solutions, KhanhHoa tourism will gradually recovery in the coming time. To be able for this to happen, tourism enterprises need to unite, make every effort to overcome difficulties for the common goal”, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh.
